Garden city of glittering futures
A hyper-modern island state where futuristic Supertrees meet hawker-stall soul. You'll glide between Chinatown temples, colonial quays and Marina Bay's space-age skyline, eating some of the world's best cheap food. Spotless, multicultural and dazzlingly green, Singapore feels like tomorrow with flavor.
Two days: marvel at Gardens by the Bay and the Supertree light show, snap the Merlion across Marina Bay, then graze a hawker centre and sip a Singapore Sling.
Polished, orderly and intensely diverse. Skyscrapers and rainforest, Michelin hawker stalls and rooftop bars. Hot and humid year-round, impeccably clean, and remarkably easy to navigate β a frictionless gateway to Asia.
Marina Bay for skyline glamour and the iconic infinity pool views. Chinatown and Kampong Glam for heritage shophouses, bars and character. Orchard Road for shopping; Little India for color and great, cheap food.
Eat at hawker centres β Maxwell, Lau Pa Sat, Old Airport Road β where a world-class plate of Hainanese chicken rice or chili crab costs a few dollars. It's the true soul of Singaporean dining.
It's hot, humid and tropical all year, with daily afternoon showers. February to April is marginally drier. Avoid the haze season (roughly August to October). Indoor attractions make any season comfortable.
Changi Airport, regularly voted the world's best, sits 20km east and connects to the center by MRT, bus or taxi in about 30 minutes. The MRT metro is cheap, clean and reaches nearly everything.
Currency is the Singapore dollar; cards and contactless are universal. English is an official language. Laws are strict β fines for littering, jaywalking and chewing gum are real. It's very safe but not cheap.
